WildflowerAbys Kitten Placements
If you are interested in applying to purchase a WildflowerAbys Abyssinian kitten, the following information should be helpful to you. It is recommended that you read through this page and become familiar with our policies and requirements before contacting us to apply for a kitten. Please be sure to contact us if you have any questions or concerns about the information contained on this page.
Health Issues
All WildflowerAbys Abyssinians cats and kittens are screened for health problems such as FIP, FIV and FLV. Careful measures are taken to ensure the health of the cats and kittens here, including all necessary vaccinations, routine de-worming and any veterinary care necessary to deal with any problems that might arise during infancy.
All WildflowerAbys Abyssinian kittens are guaranteed to be healthy at the time of placement. Details of our health guarantee can be provided upon request.
Spay/Neuter
All of our kittens sold as pets must be spayed or neutered. 99% of our kittens are placed on a companion basis. This is not a question/matter of kitten quality. Many buyers believe that "pet quality" means that there is something inferior about the kitten. At WildflowerAbys Abyssinians, it is a matter or our having the power to ensure our cat's quality of life. Most breeders cage their cats. We do not want ANY of our cats or kittens living in cages. Accordingly, we don't sell our kittens to breeders, unless we are satisfied that they are of the site frame of mind that we are regarding the cat's freedom and quality of life. There are very few breeders that share our philosophy.
Many of the kittens that we place would fare well in show competition (and would produce fine offspring)... and an adopting party is perfectly free to show any spayed or neutered kitten acquired from WildflowerAbys, if so desired. To this point in time, all adopting parties simply want a delightful and beautiful Abyssinian kitten - and they get it!
Buyer Requirements
At WildflowerAbys Abyssinians, we place our kittens only in the very best homes possible. The health, happiness and longevity of our kittens is our first concern. In looking for forever homes for our kittens, we take careful measures to ensure that our buyers are a good match for our kittens. Prospective kitten owners should be knowledgeable about the Abyssinian breed and have the time and resources to provide for the kitten's needs.
Potential buyers should have abundant time to spend with their new kitten, and the kitten should not be left alone for long periods of time during the day. Potential buyers that must be away during the day should consider purchasing a pair of kittens for companionship.
Other pets in the home should be "cat-friendly" and amenable to feline "newcomers".
Past cat ownership is an important factor. If you have recently lost a beloved companion, we prefer that you wait until you have sufficiently grieved the loss of your pet. It is not fair to our kittens to make them "replacements", nor is it fair to the memory of your lost pet to be so quickly forgotten. When you feel that you are ready to accept a new kitten into your life, please feel free to contact me.
Shipping
We prefer not to ship our kittens. In our experience, shipping is too traumatizing to the kitten. On board transport can be arranged in some circumstances.
We may make arrangements for some committed buyers to meet them at some "more-or-less" halfway point if they find that travel to our cattery is more than they can manage. These matters can be discussed on an individual basis.
